So many poor scenes and execution..waste of time.

I can't believe this is the same director that was behind City of God. This film isn't near the same quality. It's actually pretty cringeworthy. Paper thin characters who meander about, with seemingly no intellect, plot twists that are about as shocking as an average scooby doo episode all guided by the cheesy anti-establishment writing. This isn't even as engaging as an average X-Files episode. A true waste of time. Two ebola infested thumbs down.

The screenplay by Jeffrey Caine is based on the John le Carré novel of the same name and loosely based on real events and the work of Yvette Pierpaoli. You're obviously not a le Carré reader. As for your laughable claims about the film being cringeworthy and cheesy, well, there's just no accounting for poor taste.🐭

Oh, the "it's loosely based on" excuse for a poor screen play. That crutch doesn't make it any better. Garbage film.

This movie isnt about sitting on the edge and enjoying cliff hanging twists. To me its about enjoying the complicated relationships , how love evolves after death and marriage and how true character and color comes out of a seemingly soft and everyday man.
End of the movie if you can justify why its called the "The Constant Gardener" and know its not because the male protagonist enjoys gardening, you have grabbed the essence of the movie and truly enjoyed what it tells you.

To me this story was more about the emotional transition of nature of Justin and how he finally understand his wife. Like a gardner goes through the life of a plant from sowing to growing to blooming and finally dying, Justin evolves from a man who never confronts and is passively polite(even when he sees his dead wife's body, you seem in under control of his emotion) to someone who finds emotions and determination for a noble cause and finally dies for it. The same evolution happens for him in understanding his wife, he goes from love , to being suspicious about her affair to finally understanding her cause and then dying for it. Its the evolution of a doer, a gardener. Its a constant process.

@yashislost

Thank you. What you write makes complete sense. I couldn't quite 'see' it. I knew Justin was the gardener but not how.
