The people who went through this

Just watched 'Pilot Betrayed', and the ending is heartbreaking. What happens to the people who ended up in an accident, sometimes being a cause of it, is the most emotionally troubling part of the story, and the producers know it.

I felt compassion to the air traffic controller in the LAX crash ('Cleared for Disaster'), because you see how *beep* their job can be: routinely overworked, the tech that should assist you is broken, the conditions are challenging because nobody gave a serious thought about improving them, and when you screw up, people may die. Peter Nielsen got murdered in addition to being on the receiving end of this.

It's one of the reasons I never became an Air Traffic Controller. I can't imagine being one those guys who are under a lot of stress all the time. They have a massive responsibility that requires an equally massive amount of self organization and attention to detail. You really can't make a mistake. Not ever. No matter what.

That makes for a scary job, in my book. I could never do it.

I've always had a thing for flying, planes, and everything involved. The first dream job I remember having was a pilot. I too went through a phase when I considered being an Air Traffic Controller, but like you Blueghost, the stress seemed too much for me to handle.

Well, in the end it turns out my eye sight is that of a mole, so it wouldn't have happened anyways.
