Just watched the IF021 crash episode, air force messed up and heads rolled, two generals and one colonel. Contrasting this to how the US navy handled Iran Air 655 incident, the people who made the mistake of killing more than 200 people actually get medals, how interesting.

They always take care of their own first.
The US Navy's Official Report as of 2010 on Iran Air 655, (that's not released to the public) states that they were under attack according to their equipment and Navy communication protocols, even though the official civilian report states otherwise. The US Military only issues medals for bravery related actions, hence the medals awarded.
What's really interesting is that ALL US Military aircraft, no matter what their role is, don't carry Black Boxes. I wonder why that is??? Hence all the rumours at the on-set of the crash investigation of IF021.
Typically, military heads roll when they want to cover something up for the sake of National Security. Just look at the Iran-Contra Affair...

I'd guess, Matter of National Security, right? Do not really sure about that fact, but take a guess - Iraqis or Chinese people shut down one of your (my, whatever) recon planes or fighter, from some mission. The data protocols in the recording shall be open, clearly showing where, how long and how particular plane been flown...do you where I'm going?
... data protocols in the recording shall be open,...
I've never heard this term / phrase before... Well regardless...
I think you mean through GPS's, listening posts, ATC transcripts, and radar logs (land and air borne) that the NTSB can retrieve certain flight information such as altitude, direction and duration? I would agree.
Like I wrote earlier, US military aircraft don't carry any Black Boxes.

USS Vincennes was not under any serious attack - they`d brazenly entered Iran`s territorial waters and provoked a skirmish with some local gunboats, that`s all. And to mistake a climbing A300 for a descending military fighter/bomber, is just plain ludicrous and can only be explained by the ship`s Captains (who was also drunk as a skunk at the time) unstoppable urge to send missiles towards stuff; shooting first and worrying about what it hit later. As for the behaviour and procedures after the fact... let`s just say if Iranian navy were having fun conducting a firefight in American territorial waters and shot down, say, a PanAm commercial plane, Iran would have been overrun and occupied by the US military in no time. And then this senile fascist Reagan shamelessly declares that "he will never apologize for anything the USA does or has done", just to add a good measure of insult to injury. And then the Umuriken wonder why everybody hates them so much...
