Great show....developed a phobia of flying as a result of watching it.
True story.
shareha! I find it ok because you get to see the new saftey that is taken after crashes...
Working on my first fanfic...
Ive never had a phobia for flying but was never exactly comfortable with it, either. After getting addicted to this series I can report that I am slightly more comfortable flying, but most notably, I can imagine possibly learning to be a pilot some day, which I never, ever would have considered before this series.
shareDon't worry about flying you are more likely to die in a car crash than in a plane crash. Also i want to become a pilot but it's so expensive just to get into flying i don't think i will.
sharei got a bit of a phobia at first too, but the safety improvements made me feel better and also some help with what to do if it crashes
it also made me want to be a pilot! but what with the expense.. wont happen
You're not alone. I feel the same way. I used to love flying, but this series has scared the bejeesus out of me. I think the re-enactments make it all seem so real, and not just historical info on some channel. I think the ones that affected me most was the Japan JAL flight 123, and the Little Rock Arkansas one, American Airlines flight 1420 that skidded off the run-way in the storm and then eventually erupted into flames. The latter, I saw a family/victims memorial website with REALLY indepth personal accounts, and you feel like you were actually there, in the moment. Its scares me. But I also feel better when I think of the increased safety features and improved training and flight path manuals.

I feel the same way as well. I feel better knowing after most of these accidents flying has become safer, but at the same time I'm slightly more afraid when I do fly. And I think it's mainly from seeing the reenactments, when I'm on a plane and we take off I remember seeing the reenactments of the episodes where something goes wrong just after taking off, and how real it seemed...I never really thought about it before watching the series. Still a great series, though.

I'm not afraid of flying, but the show certainly has increased my wish to punch people in the face who start clapping right after touchdown. Wait until you leave the plane at the gate, only then the flight is over and you can clap! Besides: how many people clap when a bus reaches its next stop?

~No matter where you go, there you are~
To me it's the exact opposite.
Not that I had phobia before watching and now it's gone, but watching the series made me trust more of air planes and the pilots.
It's astonishing to see just how much from the air plane can go wrong and you'd still be able to land that thing.
Of course it doesn't apply to every case and some of the accidents are very horrible.
But I am sure you'd be able to make a much more horrible investigation from history's biggest train accidents.
