Are Jim and Pam too mean to Dwight?

Don't get me wrong I love the pranks. They're usually creative and hilarious, playing like over the top light hearted jokes. But sometimes, especially in seasons 1-2, it makes Jim and Pam look like borderline bullies. Moving his desk into the bathroom is funny and harmless, but tricking him into a fake CIA recruitment and making him wait for a nonexistent helicopter ride at midnight or boxing him up in the warehouse seem excessively mean.

You'll notice they often proceede a prank by demonstrating how Dwight can be a jerk to them but J/Ps retaliation is usually disproportionate. Dwight may annoy/antagonize them but he's never really that bad.

They sort of correct this post season two/three by emphasizing the absurdity/harmlessness of the pranks.

Thoughts?

I can't repel trolling of that magnitude!

Jim did almost all the pranking, and what he did was harmless. I have no sympathy for Dwight at all, he was mean to almost everybody in the office, including trying to get Jim sacked. And the CIA prank was a stroke of genius. And yes Dwight could be that bad. There were instances of JAMs caring side dotted throughout the series. The pranks were harmless, and Dwight deserved them, it could have been a lot worse.

I felt like Dwight was just as mean as they were to him. So I think they were pretty equal :)

Dwight tried to get Jim fired more than once. Dwight is an ass.

They definitely were bullies. That's why I don't understand people who like Jim. He was a prick.

I remember the episode where Dwight got his best payback ever where he essentially beat the holy hell out of Jim with a bundle of snowballs when he hid in that snowman and ambushed him. Bloodied his nose and every thing. It was even better when he had like 20 snowmen in the parking lot and had Jim pooping himself. Lol

They are sadists, bullies, hypocrites, scumbags etc. I love how the Jam white knights claim Dwight deserved it because he tried to get Jim fired. Obviously forgetting that he did so precisely because Jim the sadist smug prick has tormented him all those years.

Not mention that Dwight is pretty much suffering from a plethora of mental illnesses so he's got an excuse for his behavior.

As for Pam the office mattress, the scam artist quitter, she was doing it to impress her secret lover. It added some spice to her cheating for years and gave her the approval that her abusive dad never gave her.

They inherited that from how Tim and Dawn harassed Gareth in the British Office. Like a lot of other things, it morphed as the seasons progressed and the US show developed its own characteristics.
