She ruined his career and he (spoiler)

He has to go crawling to her door to beg her to take him back? While she acts all snippy and above him?

Yes Hitch blew her off when she came to apologize, but hello, she ruined his career over no concrete evidence. What was he supposed to do, welcome her back with open arms? There is something seriously wrong with Hitch's brain, and this movie's ending.

Sorry, had to rant. Will Smith was great as Hitch though.

Uh, he needed someone to support him, so of course he would go after her!

Lol jk.

No but I think that all of Hitch's "techniques" were solely designed to achieve and get past the first couple of dates. All of the "games played" go out the window once actual feelings are reciprocated.

Yeah, Mendez overplayed the bitch role (or the writers overwrote the bitch role rather). That's the whole problem with this movie. The only enjoyable scenes are with the Albert/Allegra angle.

She especially went overboard at the end. Considering the whole movie she has been secretly in love with Hitch (you can tell cause she's always secretly fixing her hair when Hitch shows up) and then to act like that whenever Hitch comes to try to take her back.

Its not really Mendez's fault though, the writers wanted her to be unlikeable. She just did a good job fulfilling their bad writing.

Will was good, have to agree there.

I agree. Her actions at the end are the one thing that spoil this movie for me. It's great ... until she ruins his career (which makes her a very bad journalist so SHE needs a different career) and acts like a total heifer to him. The happy-ever-after was totally spoiled for me.

"Married? Goody-Two-Shoes and the Filthy Beast?!"

I thought maybe it was somewhat the actor and a warmer, more charming actor could have pulled it off. Maybe not, but there was supposed to be a reason for Hitch to fall for her instead of all the other beautiful women he meets.

She destroyed Hitch's business with a news article, and after she found out that her information was wrong, she made no amends whatsoever; she never even bothered to request that the editor print a retraction!
The fact that Hitch wasn't able to fall out of love with her, even though he realized that she was a horrible, vengeful, cruel, selfish person showed that, despite all of his charm and perceptiveness, the guy was a poor judge of character.

I agree... with this thread.

I liked the movie except for that.
Will Smith was very good as Hitch.
Eva Longoria was a beautiful bitch.

but for me...that was just unacceptable.
