Such promise but....

This movie started off brilliantly but turned to a terrible cliche ridden ending. Such a pity as the first 2/3 of the movie were genuinely laugh out loud stuff.

Not EVERY rom-com. I think a rom com works when you don't stop rooting for the couple, when they take you on the journey and you still want them to be together.
Some movies like Pretty WOman or even "What happens in Vegas" do this.

I thought the first HALF HOUR of this movie was near perfection. Perfect premise. Perfect performance. However, after that I think the movie meandered a little. I never stopped liking Albert/Allegra, but the more they delved into Sarah & Hitch it got dodgy.
I think a tighter script would have been best, but overall I still enjoyed this movie. quite a bit.

I know! It was so clever and promising and then he "fell in love with her" and it got so cliche and a bit boring after.

completely agreed.
What's worse is that the female lead character is just so despicable in almost every way that the cliches become even more unbearably obvious, no matter how much you intend to like this film. gossip columnist having the moral high-ground?? jesus...
