James was great in this otherwise unsatisfying film. He saves it from being a total bomb. Everytime you think of poor schlub who you can't help but root for, you think of his character.
It's a shame because Eva Mendes' talent is wasted in a smallish role, and Will Smith can't shake off his showboating, egocentric persona and simply try to act for a change.
Kevin James was on his own in this movie, but he did his best.
Couldn't agree more. He's hilarious in this movie. The rest of the movie was blah and it was too long.

I enjoyed the movie, but only because of Kevin James. Will Smith didn't carry this movie, at all. James was better in the dramatic moments, and the comedy.

At the end when Smith is talking to Mendez about "falling" I literally shuddered. It was hard to watch.

You totally spoke my mind! This movie is watchable because of the Allegra-Albert Arc but that's it. :-) (watched this because of Will Smith, didn't quite expect i'd like Kevin James and Amber Valletta hihihi)
