hate how eva mendez acted like she did nothing wrong
when she was wrong in exposing hitch and she acted like she did nothing wrong. I think she got off too easy.

I totally agree. Her character was unprofessional. She did not check her sources. More specifically, she did not confirm her source. She wrote a scathing piece just based on the confession of the worst person in the whole movie. The story she wrote turned out to be incorrect and occupationally damaging to her boyfriend. In real life, that would be a slander lawsuit. She played a character that was supposed to be the star of the newspaper - adored and coddled by her boss. You think someone with her resume would be more professional.
I hate to say it, because I like her but, Eva Mendes was the worst part of the whole movie. Her character was the least likable because she was cynical, unprofessional and immature. She gave, in my opinion, the worst acting performance.
Furthermore, her relationship with Will Smith was the least interesting of the whole movie. You would think someone with the experience of Will Smith's character would not be so silly, awkward, nervous and bumbling around someone like Eva Mendes's character. I did not buy it. That would be bad writing and character development.
The Kevin James/"Allegra Cole" relationship was the most interesting. Will Smith was good as the "Date Doctor" but he became uninteresting when he took up with Eva Mendes.
yeah the james and cole relationship was better. I always thought that that relationship was supposed to be better though. i also didn't see any chemistry between hitch and mendez's character.

In response to your initial question, she did try to apologize but Hitch wouldn't talk with her. But her character was generally unlikable. A movie's central heartthrob needs more than good looks to be undeniable. She didn't have a sweet, attractive character to back up her good looks. And, like I said before, I never bought the attraction from Hitch. He was supposedly too experienced to be so hopelessly attracted to such an unlikable woman.
