Ok so Im enjoying this show so far halfway into series 2, but some of the humor is over my head since im not too familiar with British culture.
The only sketch(es) that im completely baffled by are the two men arguing about Essex v. London. Help me please...wheres the humor in it?
Essex is an English county which lies directly to the east of Greater London. The joke is about the way Essex and London people see themselves, and the way they are seen by everyone else in Britain.
Although Essex men and Londoners might see great differences between themselves, to everyone else it's hard to see any difference at all. That's why in the sketches you mention, the two men argue about the relative merits of London and Essex, but look and sound almost identical.
