Not that bad but a major plot hole (SPOILER)

I didn't think it was that bad a movie and I don't know why there seem to be some posters here that are just desperate to diss it. But I do think there was a major contradiction within the plot that was so glaring it was hard to suspend disbelief.

*** SPOILER***
The kid knew the killer. He didn't have to draw a picture. All the cops had to do was ask him who it was. Since they suspected the husband, they would have immediately done exactly that, not hauled a social worker over to do drawings. The logical thing was just to say, "Who attacked your Mommy?". There were plenty of opportunities for the police to do that.

I agree, and said this early in the movie. Plus, as long as the kid doesn't say anything, he's vulnerable to the killer.
