Why didn't Nicole Kidman's daemon speak?
I've read the books (been a while though) and I saw the movie.....but nothing seemed to explain this.
You have eternity. I have only now.

Search "Rule of Cool" on TV Tropes. It's the only answer you'll get or need...
shareI think it's behavior (and hers) is an explanation of sorts. Mrs.Coulter did not listen to anyone so probably after being ignored and slapped and silenced, over time it simply did not bother anymore. It's aggression was how it "expressed" itself.
It's a pity it didn't speak. I'd have rather heard it than Kidman with that ridiculous deep scratchy voice - which admittedly was more pronounced in her narration.
I don't understand the sudden mania that some actors have for this affectation.
Christian Bale in the Batman films; Kidman here and in her role in The Hours and Aiden Gillen as Littlefinger in Game of Thrones, to name a few.
Just seems silly to me.
Do the P-I-G-E-O-N
Her voice was fine. Besides, you should get your facts right first before you go around flinging criticism. Eva Green, who played Serafina Pekkala, did the narration and she has quite a beautiful and husky voice.
