This was thoroughly enjoyable, albeit a bit long.
The story was good, the animation was absolutely superb. Some of the fight scenes could've been trimmed down in length, however it was superbly executed.
I can see why anime is so popular, although I only watch some now and then.
Voice acting was also good.
Highly recommended watch.
Have you played through the original game from 1997?

The villain for most of the movie was just a placeholder until they could shoehorn in Sephiroth (literally: they had to delay his appearance until near the end because his animation was expensive to do, what with all that hair). I didn't care about the placeholder villain and I didn't care about rehashing another battle between Cloud and Sephy. Since you didn't play the original you're coming from a different place. For me, it was a bunch of been there, done that.

May i recommend perfect blue as your next anime movie. It is far more serious in tone and more of a thriller film
