Eileen Brennan as William Shatner's mother?

Does anyone else find it ridiculous that they cast Eileen Brennan to play William Shatner's mother in this movie? For one thing, Eileen Brennan is about 6 or 7 years YOUNGER than Shatner, so what was the point? Just to be funny? If so, it was a stupid attempt.

Brennan might be 6 or 7 years younger than Shatner but in this movie, she sure didn't look it.

Plus one of the jokes in the movie was when he said he is younger than he looks.

Eileen Brennan is only a year younger than Shatner.
