It's playing at SXSW in Austin!

In My Father's Den will be playing at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin, TX. The film portion of the festival runs March 10-18. I haven't seen a schedule yet, but you can check here: http://2006.sxsw.com/film/festival/ for a complete list of films. In My Father's Den is listed under "Special Screenings" near the bottom of the page.

So if anyone out there in IMDb land is going to SXSW, I beg you please go see this film. I bought a copy on DVD while I was in London last year (paid a pretty penny for it, too), and it is a great, great film.

Cheers.

If you bought this in London did you have a hard time playing it on your dvd player.I can't find a version in US or Canada and have been warned not to take a chance.

If you buy this DVD from UK you won't be able to play it on a US DVD player (UK is region 2, US is region 1). I found out the hard way, had to go out and buy new DVD player that could be made region free (simple code change with remote). Cost $60 but money well spent. This is an amazing movie, he is an incredible actor.

I caught a SXSW screening of this movie tonight and can safely say that it's my favorite of the festival so far (over A Scanner Darkly, A Prairie Home Companion, V for Vendetta, and many other great movies). Not only that, but it vaulted it's way amongst my very favorite films of all-time...and that's with just one viewing. Wonderful, wonderful movie.

I loved it too. Was messmerised by it. I've seem it a couple of times now and trust me it looses nothing. I might be bias though because I'm a kiwi.

Yeah, I can't see myself doing anything but gaining appreciation for this movie with subsequent viewings. While you're here (if you're still here), could you head over to the timeline post and address my question?
