Very good but too depressing

People killing each other in the name of honor or selfishness.
Poeple lying all the time, manipulating, even in close family.
No standarts, no morality, just a sodoma and gomorra of humanity.
I know these were the times(were they?) but this is just brooding.
It is believable, but i just wish they showed more positivity.
Most of the main characters are TOTAL scumbags, without forgiveness.

It's brilliant but show me a major character who is not a total scumbag.

People were messy then. They still are.

ROME WAS NOT SODOMA AND GOMORRA OF HUMANITY. Our catholic (or just christian) morality make us thinking that our morality is better. Does it, really? Show me the times which were better. Look at tv and tell me that today people do not lie, do not manipulate, do not kill each other, that slavery does not exist, that innocents do not pay for the selfishness and vanities of the riches. Ok, we have medicine, pills, tv, net and public education (at very poor level) in certain places of this world. Some of us wear jeans instead of tunics or medieval gowns, we are not forced to worship any particuliar god (in certain countries). Women can vote and do not need to bear paternal power above them. Still, in certain countries. And there are still places in this world where the life is more difficult than it was in Rome 2ooo years ago.
