i'm sure it isnt as violent or obscene as a lot of the episodes in spartacus. but is it s entertaining? do we get to see a lot of action?
i thoroughly enjoy a lot of movies/shows that have to do with anything from this time period. they're usually violent though and deal with gladiators of course. i dont really care about how accurate it is as long as it doesn't drag on and try to be something that it is.
They're completely and totally different shows.

Watch Vikings if you want something violent with solid acting across the board.
Some would say Game of Thrones, but that show is too cornball for me. I'm not into fantasy/sci fi type stuff.
For people saying Spartacus sucked, I disagree completely, but only about season 1.
I loved Rome and enjoyed Spartacus overall...though it did drag on. They are two very different shows. Rome doesn't really show much action on screen where Spartacus is mostly all action and fights. Spartacus everyone looks like j. crew catalog models.
If you like historical shows, especially in ancient times than this ones a can't miss.

After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done.
Both were equally amazing and unparalleled, but very different from each other.

spartacus was a very good series...both of them...but rome is more grand, this is a lot of manufactured writing based on real events..and i totally loved the series, esp since i just completed all seasons of game of thrones (which is the best ever but has a lot of supernatural stuff)...this is a very well written series and has good characters. there is not much action but i felt it fine...definately a watchable series.

Spartacus is more of an action series. Much simpler plot, easy to follow, easy to enjoy. Teenage boys would enjoy this show where they probably wouldn't enjoy Rome.
I definitely enjoyed Spartacus for what it is especially the first season however Rome is definitely the better series
