I've been a huge KvS fan for a long time and generally I don't care if they have a certain amount of planning before carrying out an episode but still I've always believe most of it is real and definitely not scripted and then played out with actors and such. But pay attention to the episode Who Can Kiss More Girls? where that girl who Spenny meets brings him decaf coffee, and notice that the cup she hands Spenny is actually empty. I'm not any less of a fan but I was a bit disappointed. This detail definitely shows that certain parts of the show, if not everything, is scripted.
that's retarded! that girl was totally real and tried to sue the production company so we wouldnt air the episode but she signed a release. so *beep* her!
Haha I love that Kenny posts here. Anyway I notice in tons of episodes, mostly from season 2 on, plenty of examples of Spenny being in on the joke and knowing exactly what Kenny was up to. Back to the "who can kiss more girls" episode, the girl was an obvious actress. Notice how she's perfectly mic'd up wirelessly for the line "call me in like 5 years or something when you get your *beep* together!"... plus the delivery of the line was ridiculous. Clearly scripted and acted (badly) ... Also I just re-watched the coffee thing, they're right the cup is empty. That doesn't necessarily mean anything though.
Ok the show is not scripted, AT ALL , you have to understand how the show is done
Pre season spenny and kenny come up with ideas for episodes
Once that is decided upon they each submit how they would go about winning each episode. Spenny has essentially agreed to be the guy who follows the rules and doesnt cheat
then the competition is 3 days of footage cut down to 22 mins which obviously make s the show look like everything happens to perfectly
it isnt like they wake up and decide spur of the moment what they are gonna do they have had there ideas for each episode pre season and they submit those ideas to the broadcasters to get green lit for each episode
I know how they do the show! What I'm trying to say is that the empty cup bit strongly implies that at least parts of the random girl thing were set up. She brings him a cup of decaf coffee which he accepts and talks about how he always drinks decaf while the cup itself is completely empty and that's reality?
Which is empty. It's obvious the cup is weightless and a lot of people have noticed it as well in the YouTube comments section for the second part of that ep.
Uhh... Seriously? Lets just think about this.. Even if it was completely faked.. What would be the benefit to go buy cups(w/ paper wrapped around them) and the cup holder, rather than walk five feet and spend 3 bucks for the real deal?! Especially for a scene that last all of 10 seconds..
Your "proof" honestly is as hollow as you claim the cups to be.
Not for nothing but Ive noticed this empty cup thing a lot. I havent seen the kissing the most girls comp yet so I won't comment on that directly. I notice this A LOT in scripted comedy's like scrubs for one. On that show they drink a lot of coffee and you can always tell the cups are empty by a few signs. 1) They way they move the cup you can tell its empty. 2) When they sip the coffee it NEVER looks real and the most telling sign 3) When they put the cup down it sounds hallow (empty) For some reason it always bothers me that they don't just fill the damn cups up. Even if they use iced tea, it won't be hot but at least it's the right color. So to answer the question someone else had about walking 5 feet and filling it up, it seems thats just the way they do it. Maybe they're worried about spills, I don't know. The only time they do have liquid in the cup is when they need it for the shot (drinking and spitting etc).
Either way this post isn't taking a scripted not scripted side, just felt like added my two cents.
P.S. I watched some special features on one of the discs and they showed clips from other countries and their own KvS shows. If any shows are scripted its the foreign one. The clips I saw were from the who is the best artist and it was practically shot for shot. Now that was not only scripted but pretty much just a shot for shot copy.
if you watch the who can make most money episode you see at the end when they reveal how much money they both made, spenny says 1234, 61... after that kenny underlines it with a marker, but in the next shot he puts a circle around it and you see nothing of the stripe he put under the number of the previous shot... so they taped that scene more than once
Without question the show has episodes with scripted dialogue, and little 'quarrels', if you will. I've noticed these after watching all the seasons and they tick me off, but only a little. Some episodes that come to mind when i think, "scripted", are, the better rapper episode (White *beep* who can lift more with their genitals, who has more balls (Spenny's gonna kill himself?), first one to talk loses (the final scene with Spenny's cousin), who can kiss more women (Spenny's love interest), who can wear a gorrila suit the longest, and the list goes on and on. Some of these i brought up seem to be entirely scripted from start to finish and some had small scenes in them that were scripted. Many other episodes, if not almost all, have scripted dialogue and scenes sprinkled throughout in an attempt to be passed off as unscripted. I still love KvS and i'm going to watch the new season/s and continue to watch old episodes and laugh my ass off, but it makes the show seem less authentic and i start to wonder what else is scripted. Kenny is HILARIOUS and some of his quick wit in the episodes are the funniest things i've ever heard. I've probably been in tears watching Kenny. But with no question the show contains scripted material. I'm over it, though.
plus if you go to wikipedia page of kenny vs spenny, and you click 'Sebastian "Sebby" Cluer official website ' link... the guy is one of the crew members from the show it says:
The way you hold a cup and move is different depending on if its full or empty. You can just tell the difference. Watch how it looks when they drink from an empty cup, it looks fake. Another real big thing is when they put the cup down. If they're in an area where there isn't to much noise you can hear the hollow sound the cup makes if its empty as opposed to a full cup.
Are you guys serious. The show isn't scripted. On the Season 4 Bonus features Kenny swears the show is real & I trust him. Also I hold my coffee cup like that all the time & it doesn't spill. -_-
The show is fake. Like someone else said, the early seasons look very authentic. Now they're quite ridiculous and obviously fake. Nevertheless, it's entertaining.
Im sure the show is scripted to an extent in that they know what the competitions are and they both plan out things in advance but still a lot of the crap they go through is ridiculous.
For example watch the "who can drink the most beer" competition. Spenny is obvioiusly insanely drunk to the point where its almost impossible to act. And not only that but Kenny Ralphed on him :)
