double standard?

So for the record I am not a Spenny fan nor am I a Kenny fan. I'm just a mutual fan of the show. One thing I noticed was funny is how when kenny cheats in the episodes he is considered a diabolical genius and is praised. But when spenny cheats he is considered a douchebbag and everyone wants him to go die in a hole. ?

For example, episode "who can stay in a haunted house the longest" Spenny wins the competition by handcuffing himself in there and throwing away the key. You all know that's totally something Kenny would have done but Spenny beat him to it. And there of course was an uproar and spenny was lynched haha. ??
Let's see. Another one.. Episode "who can stay in the van longer" Spenny hires people to raid their house and try to sell Kenny's stuff to get Kenny out of the van. Once again spenny is considered a douche even though Kenny has done very similiar things on many occasions.

There's a few others but that's a brief example.. What's the dealio bitches??!

I wouldn't call handcuffing himself to the house cheating, and I'm not sure who you are referring to when you say "everyone". Kenny did a humiliation in that ep.

Also, Spenny and Kenny ham up their personas for the show, and part of Spenny's character is to moralize and always take the high road, so of course some people are gonna be like "GOTCHA!" when he cheats (especially when the cheating backfires).

There is a general dislike for Spenny in the fanbase and I think that it's mostly about the fact that Kenny is simply funnier and more likeable and more interesting to a majority of viewers, at least post-editing process. He consistently seems to be the one driving the fun parts of the show. Spenny's solely-run show would be... well, *beep* go watch his porn addict movie, or single white spenny.

The simple answer is that it's just the dynamic of the show. Through circumstance, Spenny, more often than not, adopted the 'good guy' approach to how he competes. The nature of the competitions makes is so both competitors are put in an antagonizing position against each other. Kenny antagonizes Spenny by slandering and besmirching his character, and Spenny antagonizes Kenny by trying to lead as an example to others and belittle Kenny as a cheat.

Therefore, when Spenny uses underhanded tactics to win, he's both cheating himself and the dynamic of the show. Also, when Kenny 'cheats' it's more about him working around the rules that are set upon him to creatively find his advantage, or at least get himself out of doing a humiliation. When Spenny cheats, he's outright dishonest about it, often getting others to do his dirty work for him, or simply lying about losing out of spite.
