What happened to Ralph's Mother?

I missed the first 10-15 minutes of this movie. What happened to Ralph's Mother that she ended up in a coma?

I'm not sure they ever said, but her head was heavily bandaged, so I assumed there's been some sort of brain surgery to remove a tumor. Couldn't quite understand why after 7 months the bandages were still the same type.

She regains consciousnesses. And her head dressing has changed from the bland white to a colorful green with flowers.

I think she lives from that ending or at least it is suggested that she does. That is after all the miracle that Ralph wanted all along!
