I highly enjoyed this show, but...

...but people lean on it too heavily as a verification for facts. Unfortunately, they didn't follow the scientific principle a LOT of the time, so a lot of the determinations were flawed. I understand it's for entertainment, and it was good entertainment, but not always a valid end all of a disagreement.

They seemed like Cliff Clavin know it alls who you'd find in a flea market talking about things they think matter.

Tory was a lot like that.

They did revisit many of their myths, due to viewer letters/observations.. and the results usually came out to be the same.

I don't know anybody that leans heavily on the show to be the absolute be all end all.

MythBusters was a very well produced, written, and executed TV show. It was the height of cable TV entertainment.

On Facebook, I see people lean on it as an end all to a conversation all the time.

that's why Facebook and all social media is a toxic mess.

reply

I can't disagree with that.

What? Do people believe their results? I've been a fan of the show from the very start of the airing of the first season. I'm a regular visitor on their message board: People believe what they believe no matter the outcome of the show.

Remember the moon landing episode? Did it stop the conspiracy on the internet? Even Neil deGrasse Tyson had to refute the conspiracy many times to this day.

Remember the airplane on the conveyor belt episode? Did it end the discussion on the topic? No, many people still believe airplanes can't take off on a conveyor belt.
