confused about 'reveal' scene (SPOILERS!!)

i dont' get it (btw, i LOVE this movie), the "reveal scene is just perry watching essentially the show that aired on tv (and is on the dvd)

does he not at any point ask, "uh, why is this all behind-the-scenes stuff?" and/or "where's the movie we made?"

what do y'all make of it??

thanks

From Vice Magazine...

VICE: Don, how did plan to air this movie without having Perry kill you or sue you or something?
Don: We took him out for dinner and told him there were some problems. We said the funder, Hiroshima Nagasaki, didn’t like the "actual" movie and he wanted to do a behind-the-scenes thing. Once Perry was okay with that idea, we told him that also, Mr. Nagasaki is a big fan of Punk’d and Jamie Kennedy Experiment and wanted it to look like a prank.

VICE: Wow.

Don: So then Mole goes, "Hey, I’m the star of the movie, so it’s a prank on me!" and then I add, "No, idiot, I’m the star of the movie, so it’s a prank on me," at which point Perry decides to take over the meeting and says, "Shut up, both of you a--holes. I’m the f--kin’ star of the movie. The whole thing is a prank on me." And that was it.

thanks!

that certainly clears that up!

but they do NOT make it this clear in the scene they show as "the reveal" on the dvd; that's just gonna confuse everyone, as it did me

thanks again

Yeah I know.

I only found out about the real depth of this prank by reading Vice Magazine.

To my understanding, Perry is still not fully in on the joke, and "the reveal" is actually the beginning of a greater and even more elaborate prank.

Perry has been fooled into thinking WCH is a real film which has been turned into a fake prank where only he, Don, and Mole are in on it (For instance, its obvious he thinks the table scene actually happened). In his mind, the Stone Fury role still exists and only he can play it.

Recently on both the Adam Carolla show and Jimmy Kimmel Live, Johnny Knoxville has been announced as the new Stone Fury for WCH 2. Only the Perry Project people know where this is going.

WARNING: the following clip contains a very graphic scene involving a mousetrap and genitals.

i sent an e-mail to don barris (i was lucky enuf to be able to obtain it) and he basically said that perry is just generally so clueless/out of it, that he can't quite connect the dots on all this.

like you said, he was told the movie was a prank, or is being marketed as a prank, yet he thinks he should star in a "windy city heat 2," as if the public would be familiar w/the "theatrically released" windy city heat 1

btw, i LIVED for this show for 2 yrs after it aired, making everyone who came into my home watch it. some loved it; others were too turned off by perry, or didn't like the cruelty aspect. i personally think perry got a lot out of it, despite all his torture at the hands of mole, etc., so the cruelty aspect isn't that major in my book

btw II, pardon my ignorance, but who is this johnny knoxville? i have never heard of him - - guess i dont' watch enuf tv

Knoxville is a pretty major movie star who built his popularity by being the central figure on the show Jackass.

The guy suffered a serious head injury in a car crash early in life, and is severely brain-damaged. This fact, along with his statement that he would "do anything to be a star" kind of makes it evident that he can't see the whole picture. Like Barris, and Kimmel, and others have pointed out, he has been told several times about the prank, and even watched the whole thing, and he is unable to connect the dots. I mean, he still thinks that the production was halted because Mole knocked a table of snacks over, and that he won an award from the "President of showbusiness" for doing what wouldn't even be considered B-Grade material.

BTW, if anyone thinks this whole thing was cruel, I don't think Barris, Kimmel, et al. were aware of his head injury when they met him and started messing with him. I think they just saw him as this guy who was a complete star-hungry ass and started milking it. Besides, head injuries do not make people become egomaniacal, racist, sexist, admittedly "homophobic," and all of Perry's other "qualities."

My wife and I watched it together and she is a clinical psychologist. We both believe Perry is the real deal for multiple reasons, but her take on him was that he might have something called Asperger Syndrome:

After reading that, it makes sense. It's basically someone who appears mostly normal but has a few major social disorders or social retardation that amount to a selective brand of autism. Interesting to read, I think.

WCH and the mousetrap incident is now getting them all sued by Perry

It's funny, Perry suing Knoxville because he dared him to do something incredibly stupid in order to get a contract for a nonexistent movie, and Perry is stupid enough to go along with it.

So in other words, Perry is suing someone else for his own stupidity.

Saw the video you posted there, WavyG. Pretty stupid. LOL!
