Why does EDI need headlights?

Just curious.

Would "to see" be too obvious an answer?

My guess is to make the plane look like a normal piloted plane while EDI remains a classified AI/pilot or something like that. That way even if a spy gets a pic of the UCAV plane it'll look like just another piloted plane.

Either that or some safety reason in relation to other planes or something.

EDI also has a cockpit to allow a pilot to fly him. Also, the lights aid the carrier when landing.
