EDI's brain was that black spherical thing in the nose of the plane.
A couple of things occur to me..
Is the nose the best place to house that? I mean not much protection IF someone manages to shoot and hit the nose and caause damage. The brain core is in there.. Why not have it near the middle of the craft where it can be somewhat protected?
Also would they use conventional circuitry in the brain core or was it something other, maybe organic and electronic?
A couple of things occurred to me too when EDI's "brain" was unveiled.
I thought HAL 9000 had returned.
I swear I heard someone say, "Open the pod bay doors."

I can't help myself.
It being in an alternate universe it may have been Mother from Alien, or Proteus from Demon Seed. But the most attractive option may have been Cameron from The Chronicles of Sarah O'Connor.
