2 Pearls of wisdom in the movie..

1. When the rats dad says 'You can't change nature son' and the rat replies 'Dad, nature IS change'

2. When the narrator (rat) says 'The only predictable thing in life is life's unpredictability'.

I was very moved by Anton Ego's final review of Gusteau's, especially the line: "But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so."

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

After seeing the film again on TV, after seeing it in theaters on its first release, I realized how much I enjoyed Anton Ego's final review. And while it is a fictional review of a fictional restaurant, it is probably the greatest and most honest review I have ever heard from any critic--fictional or not. It just makes me wonder who wrote it. Was it Brad Bird who is credited as the screenwriter, one of the other writers who worked on the film and received a writing credit in the credits, or even Peter O'Toole himself who voiced the character of Anton Ego in the film?

My favorite is at when Gusteau book illustration encourages Remy to move on along instead of sitting in the sewer waiting. (About 15 minutes in).

Gusteau calls it Wishful Thinking but I call it the optimist' viewpoint and it's extremely useful for opposing depressive thought patterns.

So true.

..and if you're always looking ahead too much you'll never be able to see what's going on around you right now.

I loooved #1. It's such a surprisingly simple argument against those who say you can't change the way things are (i.e. nature). Nature is inherently all about change; nothing remains stagnant. Love it!

Definitely Ego's review. Reno augment with his dad was a little redundant and 'on the nose'

Who the hell is Reno?
