Who else was filled with emotion at the end? *Spoiler*

Its NEVER happened to me before but i was about to cry (!!) when Ceci was reminiscing the time she spent with her mom on the couch and her eyes filled with tears...

Did this happen to any1 else or have i undergone a drastic change of mind!?

i actually just finished watching this movie.. and i didnt find it bad at all like i had heard from some friends.. and yea the scence at the end is pretty sad... i almost shed a couple of tears as well

reply

I didn't cry but I did feel a sad emotional connection to the characters in the movie, and for a movie to be able to have that kind of effect on the viewer is the very best thing a movie can possibly achieve.

It's also interesting how most movies don't have the courage to have any sort of "sad ending", but Dark Water does. One of the reasons why Dark Water is vastly better than most other movies.

I thought the film had a very emotional ending. Rare that I go into a movie expecting it to suck (I only saw it because I like Jennifer Connely) and ended up being impressed by how powerul it is.

reply

I shed a few tears.

P.S. - I protest against Hounddog...not Dakota

This remake was good, and if you think the ending to this one was sad... You should see the original Dark Water. The ending in that is a lot more powerful.

reply

I found the ending very touching and tears just fell. Great chemistry between Dahlia and Cessy throughout the movie. The acting was great.

reply

thank goodness you too felt the same way... i thought what the hell!? how cud this happen to me! :D n sorry for a reply after nearly an year! just so busy :(

reply

It happened to me.....I swear, my eyes filled with tears (and overflowed) almost completely in sync with the little girls. That was a totally sucky ending.

reply

Gah, I've seen this movie around 5 times.

The first time, I cried. Not a lot, just a bit. Then the rest of the time, nothing. No emotional response.

Finally, the last time I watched it, a few weeks ago, I just started bawling. My boyfriend had to calm me down because I just couldn't stop crying. Maybe it was because of all the crap that's happening in my life right now and I was hypersensitive or something. I dunno. All I know is that it really struck a chord with me.

I agree with all of you. the ending was very sad and powerful. goes to soul. rated this movie for 10 stars.
pS: ppl mostly dont understand some things in movies, they need something like american pie thats why this movie rated so low.
sorry for my english.

reply

Yes, it is to the film's credit that the mother and daughter bond is so convincingly portrayed, the ending becomes truly sad but emotionally poignant. I cried at the scene in the elevator. And I prefer this remake to the original, the acting is much better, and the story, though not as scary, is much more believable.

It is a wonderful. beautiful, albeit dark and wistful drama, and great for all mothers and daughters.

I watched this for the first time the other day and the ending surprised me. I wasn't expecting it at all. And yeah, I got a little choked up.

I've seen this movie around 3 times, and I don't remember tears ever streaming down my face, but the ending did always make me feel really sad.

I think this is a wonderful movie - I honestly just don't understand why so many people hate it. Great atmosphere, great acting, great story. And the relationship between the mother and daughter is beautiful and heartwarming.

Man!
I felt the same way!
I was filled with emotion and I can't even describe it!

I was pissed, but sad and frustrated but horrified!

The line that got me was

Definitely more sad than scary, but I found it a hollow kind of sad. An unsatisfying movie for me. I'm a little surprised that this movie brought you to that point when others haven't.

I also find it frustrating when adults leave the little girl in the lift and let the door close! They don't close that quick and they stop when you stick out an arm! Yes, even the crappy old ones!

reply

i've just watched this on DVD and i'm sad about the ending. she had to sacrifice her life for her daughter when we know how close those two are is heart wrenching, but then any ending where the protagonist has to self-sacrifice always gets me; it shows how selfless that character can be.
and think of what lies ahead for her: an Eternity of being with a child you don't even know.

reply

Yeah. That's what gets me. Natasha didn't even know Dahlia or Ceci, yet she demands her own selfish desires to be met.

reply

I was filled with relief at the end. Relief that the awful movie was finally over.
