I agree but unfortunately when someone is in a situation of running for their life or in a panic they do not think clearly. I knew a woman who had a house fire and while rushing her kids out of the home she took them into a basement corner first. She wasn’t thinking clearly just to get away from the fire. She quickly realized it and they escaped safety out the basement back door but even now years later she still beats herself up about it. She’s been told in therapy sometimes the fright or flight is all about the flight (escaping). Not the logic.
