Yea, ive watched this movie many times and I must say I love it. On many levels. Have always been into psychological thrillers and that whole genre so it could explain why.

One thing i dont understand though, is in the end as Dakota is brought to her room in the hospital for children, she suddenly looks into the mirrror and talks (its been a while ago that i saw this film so i cant remember very accuretly). Why? and howcome? do you think perhaps she suffers from the same personality disorder as her father?

Just needed to clear this as its always been on my mind.

A disorder like that is not something that one develops just like that. But it was probably to suggest that the whole ordeal has put her into a mentally unstable state, too. And maybe yes, even to suggest that she might have had similar experiences in her childhood that have led her father to become the way he did, even though he said that he tried hard to give Emily (that was the name of Dakota's character) a better childhood than he had.

Although I am pretty sure that the ending you are referring to is not the "official" one from the theatrical release, so probably the creators finally deemed it too unclear and dropped it for that reason. If I'm not mistaken, the official ending is one where Emily is in an institute, but Katherine states that she is getting better gradually.

Mmm... As long as I know the official cut shows the ending where Emily draws herself with two heads, the others are the alternate endings, at least in the DVD I have.

Yeah Vocklabruck right.. The dvd I have ends with the one where Emily draws herself with a head right next to hers. [Two heads? or someone behind her?]

What are the other alternate endings?

yeah that is the same ending i saw on tv.
i was really confused about this movie but after reading other peoples explanations as to david's dual personality i figured out what the official ending meant.
during the movie emily had many moments when she would do things that helped charlie, i think her drawing the double heads meant she had a dual personality too.
instead of helping that woman david liked by making her leave when charlie was in the closet she let her look.
of course i could be completely wrong and i'm still not sure as to what everything means but that's my take on it.
