what was with the neighbour?

When the neighbour in the woods and shouts "I want to see Emily, I want to see her now!" near the ending.

What is that all about?

David had a knife and was looking for someone out there, so I guess the neighbor got worried about Emily.

He said he saw David come out of the woods earlier with a shovel and now he's running around with a knife. The neighbor just wanted to make sure Emily was o.k.
