Best Alternate Ending? *spoilers*

Hey guys I'm in a movie marketing class and we have to do a survey for this movie, if you could help me out that would be great.

Please state your gender, age, and any other basic info you can give about yourself.

The Hide and Seek DVD offers five different endings. Each of the alternate endings deal with Emily’s future after her father has been killed. Rank the different endings in order from 1 to 5, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst:

A. Original Theatrical Ending: Emily goes to live with Katherine, and is show drawing a disturbing picture of herself with two heads, suggesting she may also have developed an alternate personality.

B. Alternate ending #1, “happy drawing”: Emily goes to live with Katherine, and she seems to be living a happy and healthy life. The drawing of herself is normal.

C. Alternate ending #2, “life with Katherine”: Emily goes to live with Katherine, and is shown being tucked into bed, and then getting up after dark to play a game of hide and seek with herself, and looks at her reflection in the mirror as though she has developed an alternate personality of her own.

D. Alternate ending #3, “one final game”: Emily is in a mental hospital, and is shown getting up after dark to play a game of hide and seek with herself, and looks at her reflection in the mirror as though she has developed an alternate personality of her own.

E. Alternate ending #4, “Emily’s fate”: Emily is in a mental hospital, and Katherine is shown tucking her into bed, and then telling the doctor that she will keep coming back every day to check on her.

Okay, this is my ranking.I am 23 years old, student of sciences.

1-Emily is in a mental hospital, and Katherine is shown tucking her into bed, and then telling the doctor that she will keep coming back every day to check on her.

(I think this is the right ending. In real life, the girl would need help. The situation she lived with David's illness was very hard for a little girl, and also, seeing her dad dead, and living with a dad who sometimes called himself Charlie and acted like other person. That is just insane and crazy.Emily was not enough adult to deal with it.So,i assume she would need support because she suffered some kind of trauma)

2-Emily is in a mental hospital, and is shown getting up after dark to play a game of hide and seek with herself, and looks at her reflection in the mirror as though she has developed an alternate personality of her own.

(Well,it is not a bad ending,Really, with the crazy situation she lived, she might have developed a split personality too,but i don't think she got insane. She realized her dad was a nut, and cried, begging David not to act like " Charlie".So the girl was not so crazy to have the same illness than David)

3-Emily goes to live with Katherine, and is shown being tucked into bed, and then getting up after dark to play a game of hide and seek with herself, and looks at her reflection in the mirror as though she has developed an alternate personality of her own.

(The same, said before)

4-Emily goes to live with Katherine, and is show drawing a disturbing picture of herself with two heads, suggesting she may also have developed an alternate personality

(Well, this seems to me a bit fake.I don't think Catherine adopted Emily or something like that. She loved Emily, but the thing of adopting a child is very serious, and even tough Emily was alone,i don't think Catherine felt like she had to adopt her necessarily, come on, Cat had her own life, after all.And about the drawing,i don't think the little girl developed split personality. She knew that was not normal, and hated how her dad acted like other person.See how she always looked so serious and depressed)

5- Emily goes to live with Katherine, and she seems to be living a happy and healthy life. The drawing of herself is normal.

(The worst ending.Too happy to be true.Catherine had not to adopt Emily necessarily, she had her own life and an adopted girl in that moment maybe would have been a problem for Catherine.Just because DAvid died and Emily had lived a hell with him, did not obligate Catherine to take care of her.
I guess they wanted a happy ending, but in real life these things rarely happen)

Ranking:

C. It gives the idea that she may have developed DID more weight, however the picture was also a nice touch. Though this is a bit weird cuz I always thought that DID is a disorder that would only show itself in adulthood...

A. It was just really creepy... and I loved it

B. I like a happy ending, but realistically, she has to be a little bit messed up from what happened to her

D. It is very unlikely she would've been sent to a mental hospital at her age, be it she has the disorder or she needed help to get over what happened. She would be in counselling, sure, but mental hospital is a bit extreme, and I feel it would've cheapened the ending

1. D - I loved this ending. I'm pretty sure this is the one where Katherine mentions that she'll be taking her home with her soon? I just think that the fact that she is in a mental hospital at the moment and it's totally going over everyone's head that she's not okay is disturbing. And we know that eventually she will be going to live with Katherine. And the game with herself at the end was really creepy.

2. C - Basically the same as D, only I felt that without the locale of the mental hospital it didn't have quite the same effect. Close, but not quite there.

3. A - This was the first ending that I saw, and I found this to be very creepy. Sometimes I have no clue which ending I'm watching and so when I see this ending coming I can feel a chill when I see there are two heads instead of one.

4. B - I just like this one because it was a nice contrast to the other pictures in the movie. I really like the symbolism of the pictures throughout the movie, and if you look at them very closely when you're watching you can kind of get hints as to who "Charlie" is before it is resolved outright.

5. E - This one was okay. I just didn't like how Emily is just left in the mental hospital when she doesn't really show signs of any mental problems (I believe this is the one where they leave out the game?)and Katheryn does not indicate that she is going to adopt Emily. It just seems very out of place.

You mean Jack Kelly? Yeah, he was here. But he put an egg in his shoe and beat it.
