UNDERRATED
This movie is very underrated. The horror genre does not give many good titles and this was definately a very decent movie.

shareYes I totally agree. This film did not have a ton of gore, sex/nudity, or language. And the best part is that its rated R!! And it also had creepy atmosphere. It is very much sadly underrated.
shareI actually thought the script and execution was quite good. The twist was shockingly clever.
Pretend you're a janitor. Janitors are never terrified.
i think to be honsest this movie is good
shareIt's full of cliche's and people who have seen lots of horror films will guess the ending i think but i still really enjoyed it. It Doesn't break any new ground but it is so well acted and extremely atmospheric and it deserves credit for that.
There seems to be some sort of mistake. I bought a drink and some popcorn and now I have no money
I agree that the horror genre is generally very disappointing. I think this film was OK, but I expected more considering the cast. 6/10 stars from me.
shareI agree that it is underrated. First of all, it is extremely well acted. Fanning emotes fear (and weird) in the most convincing and natural manner. Second, it's a first rate shocker. The jump scares are expertly timed, and there are several quietly disturbing scenes (such as when De Niro discovers messages from "Charlie"). Is it a realistic psychological drama? Probably not - but that's not what we're here for.
Some may consider it unoriginal. Well, originality is often misunderstood, flung around by people who are exposed to something they are unfamiliar with, something where they don't catch they point of reference, the source from which the form or language was lifted.
Is the twist predictable? Well, if you saw it coming, you saw it coming. But perhaps the twist is predictable because it is the worst case scenario. Had the film opted for a less obvious conclusion, it could easily have been far fetched or flat rather than effective. And sometimes, knowing is just as bad as not knowing. I actually found this one more scary on the second viewing.
All I'm saying is, I'd rather judge and enjoy this as a horror movie than a drama.
Agreed. Maybe I'm biased because I tend to love movies with autumn settings for some reason but it actually was good. No Sixth Sense, but good.
