Katherine's visit...SPOILER

When Katherine pays them a visit, do you think after having a chat with Emily she suspects that this imaginary friend Charlie might be no one but David himself and therefore offers to take her back to New York ?

No I do not believe that she knew at all, when she came she knew the daughter was pretty messed up. However, I am sure she trusted a fellow psychologist. I was surprised how De Niro kept calling her throughout the movie asking for her opinion when De Niro knew all the answers already, I mean he was the guy who taught her everything she knows.

she understood the child had been through a lot with the 'suicide' of her mother. When death occurs in a child's life it can really psychologically mess up a young person's mind.

Plus when the daughter calls her, her voice sounded completely clueless about who Charlie was.

I have another question regarding the visit. I must have missed something. As I understood it, Katherine would take Emily to New York for two weeks. But I saw nothing indicating that Emily went to New York with Katherine. Why didn't she go to New York?

David said that he would wait 2 weeks to see if she improved, then he would send her to New York. Emily was never supposed to go immediately after the visit.
