Why was the neighbour so on to Emelie ?

Didn't understand that really... did emelie remind him of his dead daugther ?

Yes....it was right there in the movie. The neighbors daughter died from cancer (since the picture of her was bald assumption she has chemo) and they told David that Emily reminded them of their daughter.

Yeah, he wanted to spend time with his daughter again. And if he couldn't, he wanted to spend time with something close. So a girl that reminded him of her became the choice.
