I am not gona say this movie sucked. It would have to be so much better before I would say it sucked.
But about the airline uniforms. Why when Sean goes back in time to the bank transaction is he still wearing the pilot uniform? And what is the pilot wearing?
I suppose it must be beacuse he said earlier that he didn't know what would happen if they went that far back. Cause he did say earlier that your clothes remained the same. Must have been one of those unforseen things.
He does mention (several times) that anything you're touching or wearing goes back with you. So the uniform is duplicated ... he's wearing it, and somewhere there's a pilot who is also wearing the same uniform.
In fact, that's why he originally chose to play with this toy at the bank (and why he stalls for time) ... so the bank teller can hand him $2000 in cash, then he zips back a minute or so carrying the cash with him, and then she hands him another $2000.
So somehow objects you're touching or wearing get duplicated, but not people you're touching ... they just go back with you to the position they were in 10 minutes ago, but preserve the memory of what happened.
And some objects you're touching go back with you (like things you can carry), but not the airplane seat you're sitting in, or the seat belt around your lap, or the laptop computer you borrowed.
Sorry, I told myself I wouldn't nitpick. But good time-travel movies are hard to write, and it's important for the screenwriters to figure out the logic of the time-travel.
The seat didn't go back in time with him because his body itself wasn't touching any part of it. Same goes for the seatbelt, and perhaps the laptop if he let go of it. Things touching the person go back with him, not things touching clothing, etc. of the wearer.
More strange is that not only Sean got back with a pilot uniform but also Vinnie Jones still got his suit and the girl remembered the whole thing. This can only be possible when Sean touched both Vinnie and the girl at the same time when activating the PDA.
Or this is what's happening if jumping back for more than 10 minutes... just a plot hole I guess.
Well, remember that at the last second Vinnie's character grabbed the girl as Sean's was holding her hand? That means all three went back with everything they were wearing at the time. It's not strange, that's exactly what was supposed to happen.
This is a bug. Since everything was supposed to happen in reverse, so should the attach on the pilots, which means they should have had their original clothing.
Also. When they were only able to go back 10 minitues, why not just press it again to go back an additional 10 minutes? Then press it again, and so on.
Man, all of you missed the whole point! You guys got to pay attention more!
When they were in the plane, why was he scribbling formulas on the bathroom mirror? Because he figured out how to break the 10 minute barrier (and he even mentions that.) But because the plane was crashing and the device still didn't fully work, he hooked it up to someones laptop on the plane and at the moment he activated the device, Vinnie Jones gets hit, the girl gets shot and they both fall to the ground and grab a hold of Sean Astin's character to make sure they all go back together (they showed this very clearly) which is why both guys went back with the Pilot uniforms and she went back with a different jacket (which her partner in the bank mentions.) And these aren't duplicated, they actually go back meaning that the pilots that were wearing the uniforms originally appear where they were, but in their undies...
Remember when Sean's character initially withdrew $2000, then withdrew a fresh $2000 more when he reversed time?
That means that the original $2000 not just existed in his pocket, but duplicated when he did it again. That means that the pilot uniforms he and Vinnie are wearing exist in two places-- on them, and back on the pilots they took them from.
Well, there are so many plotholes in this movie naming them all would take all day. But to mention some:
Like tamtam2382 sais, if everything happens in reverse the clothes should have changed back. Also, they wouldn't rememeber anything, since all their memories are stored physically in their brain, which has been rewinded like all other things. Acctually, if it truly rewinds like in some scenes, the persons touching the device wouldn't have a different experience from all the others not touching it.
Now, if it doesn't "rewind" for the person(s) touching it (unlike it shows, except for all the clothes being copied, but how they explain) Stuart would be dead from the first bullet in the bank BECAUSE he touched the device when it rewinded time.
This films is plenty of plotholes. Like the mouse story. If he shaved and sent it back he couldn't remember been shaved it, so he never did, only the mouse remembes being shaved. It is the same situation at the bank, the guy with the FBI girl is not able to explain why she is wearing a different suit.
Just saw it on Sci-Fi. much better than usual sci-fi channel fair.
I assumed they ended up in pilot uniforms and clothes from the plane because the device was technically touching the plane, so the entire plane load of people went back to wherever they were so many hours earlier.
