I'm a stupid ... please explain it to me.
Dear fans of SLH,
I just finished watching this movie and vigorously disliked it, but in reading about peoples' reactions to it here, some people seem to be saying that some of the disdain for the movie is merely a failure to fully understand Lieberman's intentions and the satire and humor of the movie.
I'd like to have a better understanding of these, and maybe this will change my view of the movie. I'm not trolling or trying to stir anything up - I'm genuinely curious to see if someone can help enlighten me and provide some insight into things I'm completely missing with the movie.
I immediately recognized the rebuking of those people who criticize media for leading people to commit crimes or be sociopaths in real life with the silly premise that the kid in this movie becomes a complete moron who wants to kill people after playing a violent video game. Obviously, the notion is so absurd that it's an argument against this line of thinking. Also, I'm guessing the idiocy most of the people in this movie exhibit is a mockery of stupidity in slasher movies in general.
Beyond that, though, I'm at a loss, and I don't think either of those satirical concepts led to much substance here or helped to make a good and entertaining movie. So help me out - what am I missing?
Thanks to anyone and everyone out there that reads and replies to this.
