Anyone have any theories on the plot holes? Like, where is the father/father figure, how they had a nice apartment, nice clothes? How come she had a (really cool) laptop? How come there was no damage caused by the sprinklers in the restraunt? And anything else you can think of..

shareI like this movie...it's a cute, cheesy silly movie...but it does have its plot holes...I don't care how good of a baker the mom is...there is NO way she could get an apartment like that in NY on her salary!

shareI don't know about the half sisters thing, but when Holly says "Patsy's back," she's talking about Patsy Klein. Because, in the restaurant when they're talking to Ben, Holly goes, "She listens to Patsy Klein when she's sad." So she was saying that her mom was listening to her again, which meant they'd be moving.
shareIn the deleted senes it explains a bit about the apartment. Dolores is an old friend of Jean's and that's how she knows abotut he opening at the bakery so quikly. And Dolores had a friend (or brother or sister... I don't remember) that was looking for someone to sublet their apartment. So that's probably cheaper than a lease of rent.
