If he's engaged, and not married yet, why is he wearing a wedding band throughout the movie?

Just one of many oddities in this movie.

Chris Noth always wears that ring -- always. In everything. I've seen him wear it in Law & Order, Sex and the City...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasnt the ring on his left hand?

Maybe he just switches the ring to his left hand when filming?? a lot of actors do that sometimes.

he had a ring on his ring finger on both hands. so i thought he was married in the movie. i hate it when guys wear a ring on their left ring finger when they are not married. very annoying! why do that?

Italian men usually wear a wedding band when they are engaged. It's an Italian custom. I'm not sure if they do this in America but it happens in Italy.

Well, it's not really a wedding band: it's an engagement ring, called "veretta" or "fedina" (translates roughly as small wedding band) and sometimes "mezzafede" (= half wedding band :-)), while a wedding band is called "vera nuziale" or "fede nuziale" (literally "wedding band").
