Just plain creepy...

All that people pretending to be other people on messenger and stuff. If my mother did that to me, I would freak. And all that writing love letters to her mother. Just creepy and odd really. Anyone agree?

Just watched the movie. I could be wrong, but I thought the people in the movie DID freak, and then they discovered they did all that because they cared, and it ended happy. Odd and awkward situations show up in a whole lotta movies, especially comedies. I mean, that's entertainment, at least by Hollywood comedy standards. Check out Cyrano (which is mighty old), or You've Got Mail, or Sleepless In Seattle. If this movie is creepy and odd, what's left to describe, say, total strangers, or perhaps the government, butting into somebody's love life? Because that really does happen. And, it seems to be showing up more and more as a form of cyber-bullying by teens, which at least once recently resulted in suicide. This is a romantic comedy. It doesn't seem all that special, but parts are sweet and funny. That's most of my reasons for not agreeing. Personal boundaries and privacy do matter, but they must by nature be flexible. Anyhow, movies are fun to talk about, even after the popcorn is gone.

I agree. I got a creepy vibe as well. The daughter writing love letters to her mom and then having her boyfriend call her mom as "Ben" and then the mom pretending to be her while talking to her boyfriend. Uck.

I agree that this film was very creepy. Why did they have to make her so slutty?

I watched it with my friends as a joke, and we all thought it was incredibly creepy. I love how Holly's email were read aloud by Ben, as though she had started thinking with his voice.

the scene when they were flirting on MSN freaked me out. they were trying to make this seem all great and cute and witty but obviously failed. i mean. it's a 17 year old girl flirting with her mother. WTF.

She wanted to stay and not move so she had to pretend there was a perfect man for her mom to give her a reason to stay etc
Well at least her mom came to her senses in the end and decided that staying would be the new adventure even though i wouldn't personally make up a perfect man or pretend to flirt with my mom, but anyways its a movie if it creeps you out don't watch it
