Strange to meet you...

Does anyone know where I could get a transcript of "Strange to Meet You"? I would like to do this scene for my drama class (this semester we're doing a collection of scenes, monologues, and dialogues), and I don't know what the lines are. Or, perhaps, would someone mind transcribing it themselves? Some kind person? Please?

why not just do it yourself? it's not that long.

reply

Because I don't own it.

When do you need it by?

Within a week if possible. I'd really appreciate it.

Well, thank you anyway. I may have to just put it on my netflix queue so I can do it myself.

While we're on the subject of STRANGE TO MEET YOU, how do you think they know each other? One review said they're old friends, but I beg to differ. The opening line is, "You are Steve?" It seems like they're meeting for the first time, but why are they meeting? It's not a blind date, so what's going on? It was definitely planned. What do you think?

Well dogout43, I've got you your transcript, if you still want it. Send me an email with where I can send it, ([email protected]).

If anyone else (ever) wants a copy of the scene transcript, just email my gmail account above, or you can send me a message on these boards, though I frequent them less often.

And on the topic of the scene--they most certainly don't know each other, I mean, the title and the ending show they are meeting for the first time, along with other bits of dialogue:

Roberto: Yeah, hello. You’re Steve?
Steven: (yeah) Steven, Steven. Hi.
Roberto: Sit down.
Steven: Roberto?

(As you said.)

As to how they are meeting... well, it's almost like it's an impossible situation, you know? That's part of the charm of it all--though the meeting was arranged, it has no purpose. This short I think best exemplifies absurdist theater.

Thank you for your transcript, aginitall. It was very thorough, and my drama teacher loves the scene. I really appreciate it. If you ever need anything that can be done electronically, just let me know. Thanks again.

Just to let you know, the performances were Friday and last night, and they both went terriffic. I did the "Coffee and Cigarettes" scene and the opening diner scene from "Pulp Fiction." It was a really great show. Two guys did "Who's on first?" Someone else did "Johnny Suede." It was really terriffic. Just thought you might want to know. Bye.
