disappointing

It felt like a Woody Allen movie from another dimension. The dialogue, and the examination of relationships, and the new york scenery are familiar; but the young neophytes in this film sound anachronistic regurgitating dialogue and speech patterns that were relevant to Allen's cinema with Diane Keaton et al 20-30 years previous.

Sadly I think you can say the same thing about pretty much all of Allen's recent efforts.

So whatever, never mind

yes, indeed. I surely expected more from this one. Though you can't have the same opinion when it comes to Vicky Cristina Barcelona or Match Point

It would seem that in every movie that Woddy Allen is not in, but he directs, the Lead Character (this time Will Ferrell) has to act EXACTLY like a Woody Allen Clone. Allen has destroyed potentially good films by forcing his way of speech and persona on the lead character. It seems to have started in "Celebrity" with Kenneth Branagh; who destroyed a potentially great movie with his poor and annoying Allen impression. I really like Woody's older films from the 70s, and some of his more recent films when he decides to perform the leading role himself. But this Woody Allen Clone bit, will keep me from watching anymore films he writes and directs; but does not star in.
