Embarrassingly bad; painful to watch

i don't know where to begn. there are so many inconsistencies, from one scene to the next, there are things that contradict each other. Yes, i realize there are two different versions of the same story being told. this film is poorly written, characters could not be more dislikeable, such pretentious and boring people. if real life conversations were like this, i think i would i kill myself too!

i am a long-time woody allen fan and i believe his best films were with mia farrow. bullets over broadway was probably his last good film, he may have had just enough muse material leftover from mia to crank this one out. midnight in paris was amusing and cute, but i was very surprised at the business it did and the oscar noms it receieved. i'm always hoping he will make another good film, but i think this one may be HIS WORST!

This and Cassandra's Dream are Woody's two worst film.

For Stiffy, this is the ultimate dumps - just like in Hollywood Ending, he takes a basic concept with great comedic (and not only comedic) potential and botches it in a way it has to be seen to be believed. There isn`t a single joke in the film that`s actually funny and both sides of the story are so utterly vapid, pointless, aimless, dull and tedious, lacking in any insight into anything that it`s hard to believe Stiffy wrote the script in only a week - he probably blocked it out in less than an hour. And, of course, he goes and tops all this emptiness off with some embarrassingly pretentious, banal windbag philosophizing that only some angsty teenager might find profound (not that Stiffy was ever quite as "deep" as his biggest fans believe, but this here reeks of onsetting dementia). There`s literally no redeeming quality to this turkey, not a slightest reason to rate it any higher than 1/10.

I agree, what really stuck out to me was the forced dialogue and acting. Will Ferrell trying to be Woody Allen was frankly quite disgusting, not funny in the least. Lines were delivered so poorly by the actors (with the possible exception of Amanda Peet)

I know Manhattan is his thing, but it so so over handed. Give me a break
