What a GREAT book!

I ordered the book online, and its one of the best novels I've read in a long time in terms of prose. Unlike just about every other author that tries to write *teen*, this author actually does! Its like a teenager was being channeled for this novel. The ending could have been a TAD stronger, but it was a very good read.
Some of the descriptive nature & life passages stay with me still. I've read it 3 times so far.

Well recommended. Has anyone else read it?

Of course! Though, I've probably read it 50 times...it's one of my top 5 books. I read Speak, Catcher in the Rye, Go Ask Alice, On the Road, and Perks of Being a Wallflower at least 3 times a year.

But yeah, Speak always stuck with me because of the way it is written; like a teenager sat down and wrote it. The author went to my high school and based a lot of the "cliques" off what she experienced at FM.

When the movie aired in 2004, I was so impressed with the 13 year old playing Melinda that I had to know more. I was hooked on Kristen Stewart from then on. Her ability to portray the emotions AND smart ass attitude of Melinda was just incredible; exactly as I had pictured Melinda.

So yes, a great book, a great movie adaptation, and played by a great young actress.
