How obnoxious was Bryce?

Am I the only one that found Bryce completely obnoxious and unlikeable? Yeah, Amanda was kind of a bitch. But she and Bryce deserved each other IMO. I guess the writers thought everyone has a "devil on your shoulder" friend like that. Sure, I hung out with a few Bryces in college, they're fun and usually get chicks, but still... With friends like that, who needs enemies? lol Bryce's profession wasn't exactly the most honorable, either. When Jessica and Paul lost their tempers with him, I totally wanted them to whoop his ass. He tried to redeem himself at the end, but I didn't buy it.

You keep seeing Amanda with the bad guy (sorry, don't remember the character's name)...I was hoping she'd been with him the whole time and was just playing Bryce, knowing he'd hit on anything with 2 legs, and he'd learn his lesson at the end. Oh well. In the extra features, Scott Caan said he saw lots of himself in that character. Hey, at least he's honest lol I'd rather hang out with hot, nerdy Jessica any day! I'm like Paul's character...screw treasure when you can have that :-) Guess I'm just boring...oh well!

Anyway, this wasn't a big deal to me, but then I came on here and was surprised no one was posting about his character being a jerk. So I just wondered if I'm alone thinking this. Does Scott Caan always play this type of character?

He was definitely meant to be obnoxious (and I can't stand Scott Caan anyway). I wish he had gotten his leg bitten off and died! :-)

You must be joking, he was alot of fun!

I guess they wanted this hateable character for this movie.. I can't stand the sight of him. YOU JUST KNOW from the very beginning he's unlikeable

If everything pans out correctly,
we're gonna be doing a fifty-fifty split.
That's half for me,
and half for you and Sam.
Oh, man. This dude deserves a sequel in which he will cut everyone out by any means necessary.

He was funny. Logically he should have died during that solo night dive. Believing he had the skills of a Navy Seal was a tad much.

You are not the only one, I wanted him to be eaten by a shark. I can't understand why people like to hang out with characters like his, they are not only obnoxious and like in the movie get themselves and those around him in trouble in a heartbeat, but when push comes to shove, they can be very untrustworthy and really are no friend to anyone other than themselves.

But...if he can elicit such negative feelings on the people watching the film that means that Scott succeeded as an actor, so kudos to him.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say about a 15. I think he should have died.

Certainly not Jared and Sam.🐭

He's just a douchebag type of guy, whom Scott Caan played to the tee.

And yes, they do often get the (hottest) girls because they come off as confident and dominant guys who always know/can handle sh-t, even though it's usually a smokesceen.

Their female equivalent is usually the bitch/skank, and they more often than not end up with those types.

Honestly they were both terrible people. I kind of wish the movie changed things up and made both Bryce and Amanda the bad guys along with Reyes. Then switch it up and have Brolin ally with Walker and Alba instead.
