Loved it! But have one question... (possible spoiler)

I absolutely devoured this movie, twice in three days! It took two viewings (the first was just to see the effects, the second was to get into the plot) to get my mind around the whole subtle storyline.

Now I have only one question left. What the crap was that thing emerging from the tied-up slave woman in the basement? Was that how the family and other victims became the demon creatures? If so, why didn't that happen to the main cast as they each became "changed"? Or was it simply her insides being churned out by the sacrificial process?

reply

I think it was just her insides being churned but I could be wrong

Is Churn the word? ~Blinks.~ I thought that since she was freaking out over that one dude coming. Maybe he was invisible to Todd, and just stepped around him. That could explain the slice forming across the woman's abdomen. And maybe her innards were being pulled out by invisible hands. Unless I missed something x.x'

It was an invisible person, probably the "father" it was just her intestines.

reply

Right, it seemed to me it was her intestines being pulled out by an invisible father.
Sure, some stuff didn't quite add up, and there was a hole or two, but I too dug this movie. I watched it twice, and then a third time with the director's commentary (which did answer some of my questions).
I recommend this movie to everyone that likes horror.

ayyyyy, cripes anywun remember the part about the father guy saying sumthin like "the slaves, they tricked me, i tred to bring them back"?or maybe the book that one guy found in the shack with the words in freaky freaky voodoo languag, it was spells. so no theiveys it probably wasnt the stomach "churning" that turned everyone into demons

When the cut came across her stomach you could hear a slicing sound. I don't get why he wouldn't go after Todd though if if was the father pulling out the insides. It was a very confusing movie

Here Todd is being shown a vision of what happened to the slaves who were kept in the house. The slave wasn't really there, it was all just for revealance purposes. The Dad didn't attack Todd there for the same reason he didn't attack the injured robber who saw him. He was just revealing details of what he had done to the slaves and family.
