Kids

Would this be ok for a 12 yr old boy and/or a 9 yr old girl? I got it from Netflix today. Is there sex and/or nudity? How bad is the violence? Is the gory stuff realistic?

reply

um...the only gore and violence that i can think of is when...

spoilers...

you see a human skinned alive chained on the ground still alive...but you only see the person at least 10 seconds or so...there's really not much gore at all with all these new movies coming out like Saw and Hostel and what not...i would say it would be ok for the 12 year old...but I'm not really sure about the 9 year old...

there's not nudity at all...and again...i guess it just depends on how mature the two kids are...So I'm saying the 12 year old can see it and I'm not really sure about the 9 year old...

Thanks. Neither one wanted to watch it, so it all worked out in the end.

I think it would frighten them.

Jeeze, I've got an 11-year-old grandson, and there's no way I'd let him watch it. He'd have nightmares for ages.
SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (sorry....I don't know how to do that cool thing with the red hover text)

Watching somebody get skinned, flashes of demons with fang-like teeth, the friend that is hung like a scarecrow and is skinned and who gets his head kicked off, the guy who shoots Annabelle by accident, the dead demon who is VERY creepy, the child that gets shot during the robbery getaway, the kid in the corner of the room who screams.....
No, this isn't a movie for a 9-year-old, or even a 12-year-old. I think there's way too much disturbing imagary in it. JMHO

reply

Yeah, no...not unless you want your kids to have nightmares for months. Send them to their rooms and watch this alone if you are any kind of sensible parent. That is all. The end.

reply

How about allowing your kids the joy of being innocent kids for a few more years?

They'll get enough crap in the world without their parents dragging it in front of them.

Sheesh.

reply

oh please i grew up watching stuff like this!! nothing wrong with letting your 12 yo and maybe your 9 yo watch this i've seen worse when i was 7

reply

Yah dude I'de totally would let a 12 see this. I was 6 when I saw John Carpenter's THE THING and that scared the living crap outta me. I saw it again when I was 11 and I was like "WHOA THATS COOL!" But I saw this movie in 2005 and I was 12 and the only way I didnt finish this was that I fell asleep.

But I'm tired of people thinking that a 13 year old would be scared of this. People think that a 10 year old would have nightmares over Monster House and A Bugs Life! I know people that wont let their kids watch The Simpsons! I mean, theres a little mild content in that but COME ON!

Okay, I haven't finished the movie yet but I am sure I've seen worse as a kid. I turned out all right, but I am STILL haunted by certain horror movies I saw when I was younger. Seriously, just get them something else semi-scary but aimed at kids.

reply

I'm 26 and this movie scared the living sh*t out of me. And I did not see the whole thing even. Was on tv and i was channel surfing. Can't go to sleep now. Those teeth were really, really bad. Scared of my own cat in the dark now cause he might sprout teeth like that.
Let your kids be kids as long as you possibly can. They are coing to see horror movies and stuff like that, but please, don't be the one who shows it to them.
I totally wish I hadn't seen horror movies so early in life.
