Your reaction to the bank scene

How would you sum up your reaction to bank scene shooting?

In three words, mine would be:

HOLY!
F--KING!
SH-T!

"Major, right now you've got me as confused as I ever hope to be."

reply

+1

I was like.. holy crap, this movie is moving slow... until the bank shooting

It was in the first 5 minutes, wasn't it?

reply

Yeah, it is pretty much the first major scene in the movie.

reply

Kind of stupid for someone to say "this is moving slowly" not even five minutes into the film.

I remember talking about the bank scene on AIM with a friend. It went something like this:

Me: "... great atmosphere though. thought it was good except the stupid Tarantino shoot-out at the beginning"

Friend: "rofl yes. random sh!tty like... gore"

"I've been living on toxic waste for years, and I'm fine. Just ask my other heads!"

reply

Oh please, it was such over the top CGI, I had no reaction to it at all, except a big yawn.

reply

I wouldn't say this was over the top CGI. Over the top CGI is Indiana Jones latest movie. That is over the top CGI.

reply

Very true. But check out The Wild Bunch from 1969. Another film that begins with a graphically violent bank massacre. There was no CGI back then, but the scene is so much more effective.

reply

It was utterly stupid.

There were NO revolvers from the Civil War era that could decapitate a man.

reply

I found that scene to be quite startling.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

reply

I was like "Hahahaha awww mannnn... hahaha" and then I rolled my eyes.

I got the crazies.

reply

un expected. i expected there to be a shootout, but to kill everyone in 3 seconds is just really short-cut.

Ya, unexpected/shocking and makes me never want to do business inside of a bank again in my life.

but there definitely WERE satanic cults turning people into deformed, naked, four-legged pig-beasts.

It was unexpected and the effects weren't all that special.

I also found myself not caring about any of the main characters and in fact feeling they got what was coming.

reply

It made me think all the main characters were unsympathetic *beep* watching it right now and I haven't got that far in so yeah...we'll see.

reply

I knew right off from second group saying they needed to enter the bank that there would be a shootout/robbery (I've seen a bunch of westerns after all). But the woman being part of the gang did surprise me.

So yeah, the scene was alright. The blood splashes looked like CGI which hurt it a tad.
