Those lanterns!

Okay, so I liked this movie well enough but I was completely distracted throughout the whole movie by the lanterns that never flickered. It's like they had a battery-operated candle inside of them. Kind of spoiled it for me even though I know that's a trivial thing.

I've seen Carbide Lamps on historical mine tours and they look quite similar to the lanterns in Dead Birds. They don't flicker and are an old technology.

I'm with you on the lanterns. There are some architectural features that aren't right for the time period too.
