Reply from Carnival Films *They Produce R+T*

I asked them for any updates and the girl that replied was
super nice. Here is a bit of what she said. I can only cross
my fingers that they are picked up by another network.
I think it is good for the fans to email Carnival so they see
support. Not just in the UK, but in the US as well.

"Many thanks for your e-mail.
Unfortunately ITV have decided not to commission a fourth series of the show, so for the moment there will be no new series of Rosemary & Thyme. However it is possible that in the future the show may be picked up again, and should this happen all the details will be on our website www.carnival-films.co.uk."

I emailed them and encouraged them to try to place the show elsewhere.

Can't hurt to have your voice heard: [email protected]

It will be sadly missed!

reply

By a small minority!

Are you supposed to be clever? All-knowing? Have you polled the planet to know who will miss this program?

I speak for myself and I shall indeed miss the show. After reading your other comments perhaps you should think about keeping some of them to yourself.

reply

lol! That's funny coming from someone who has too much time on their hands
to get on a R&T message board and stir things up.

I too shall miss it ~ I really just enjoy watching this show because it completely relaxes me!
AND by the way I am happy to be in the minority of people who enjoy such a show...small or large...there are certainly WAY too many people who are into brutal violence & extreme sexuality on the television and I wouldn't want to find myself in that circle.

Hi jazzzbaby -

It's absurd, isn't it? This isn't the Superman or Batman boards where the fanboys and fangirls go at each other. It's also odd because that poster is clearly obsessed with "Midsomer Murders" - a show that's not all that different from R&T and certainly not exactly the most profound show either.

I think your assessment of the show is perfect - and it does relax me, too - despite the suspenseful moments.

Cheers.

I myself am a fan of “Rosemary and Thyme”, and I consider myself part of small minority because of it. Hence the comment “[the show will be missed] by a small minority.” This is an opinion. These message boards are full of opinion. As for you telling me to keep my comments to myself, judging from some of the others I have written, you might like to know the comment in this thread is the only one I have made about the show.

If I’m honest, I don’t think the show is particularly good. It’s all light-hearted, yes, with flowers everywhere and a few dead bodies at the bottom of everyone’s garden… this is exactly why the programme was axed. The same thing happens *every* episode, and people tire of it. I did.

I enjoyED it... You might enjoy it immensely, and for that I feel very happy for you. I am more into programmes that I can re-watch over and over, each time recognising a different meaning to the story or simply recognising something I didn’t notice before. This show I find predictable from start to finish, very cheaply made and the storylines either don’t make sense or are just so transparent due to the sizes of their plot holes.

So I am not surprised it has been axed, and, although it makes easy-viewing, it is just not a show serious enough to be kept by such a broadcasting channel. I am pleased it will be axed. I mean, we didn’t want it to go further downhill, did we?

reply

I think it should come back too. And to all the people who 'know it better': This is one of those unique programs where you can get addicted on, and it was hugely popular (8.8 million viewers isn't exactly nothing...)So it must come back!!

reply

Michael Grade has been appointed to run the ITV network, and I couldn't think of anyone better to run that tv station that broadcast R & T. It is said that Grade hates reality tv and wants to have more Drama on ITV. Maybe they'll return if it depends on him!

reply

Wow, that is a bit of hopeful news.
I wonder if a writing campaign would help?

reply

I suppose it would, but I don't have any idea of how to start such a thing. I know they did it to bring 'Poirot' back, and I think it worked.

reply

I read a recent article (If you google Rosemary & Thyme in the google news, you'll get any recent articles)...ANYHOW, the new head of ITV was in agreement that he was happy the shows that were axed were before he got there because he thought they were past their prime and were 'tired'

SO...I don't think there is any hope at ITV

reply

Oh that's very dissapointing. The reply I got from Mr. Eastman is the same as I got from carnival earlier so...
