Is there a soundtrack or does anybody know where to get the music in the beginning titles and end credits. I know the song is Simon and Garfunkel's 'Scarbourgh Fair' and the series music was composed by John Williams & Christopher Gunning.
Also, I think I should point out that Simon and Garfunkel didn't write Scarborough Fair. It's a traditional song. Hence, the fact that Bob Dylan could write "Girl from the North Country" (which is essentially the same song) and not get sued. Come to think of it, Dylan's version was recorded before Simon & Garfunkel even formed.

wellesradio is correct. The theme song melody is a traditional song which was called "Scarborough Fair" and dates from the 1600's or earlier. The melody of Simon and Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" is their interpretation of this song, not a new composition.
That being said, the version performed for this show (by John Williams) is simply superb and is just perfect for it. FYI, I always assumed that this was the same John Williams of Star Wars fame (plus a ton of other movies) and who is probably one of the top movie composers in modern times. Well, it turns out I was wrong. The John Williams who performs the Rosemary & Thyme theme is an Australian composer who is probably best known for his work on The Deer Hunter. Nice job Mr. Williams.
Actually, Christopher Gunning was the composer. Williams performed the piece. He's not a composer but a guitarist who's famous for arrangements and forays into pop as well as classical, which is his mainstay. Plus, I'd take him any day over the schmaltzy Star Wars guy.
