Location for 'And no birds sing'

Does anyone know the name of the country home that was featured in the first episode of Rosemary & Thyme - "and no birds sing"?

reply

I'd like to know; it's a lovely place. Too bad the page doesn't include filming locations for every episode.

The house in the fitst episode of Rosemary and Thyme is Folly Farm. Architect was Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jykell was responsible for the original garden design.

Regards, Brian Farnham

And so where is Folly Farm located? Near London? Thames Valley? East Anglia?

I just found out from a historic houses expert on Twitter. Folly Farm is: Sulhamstead, Berkshire. It was designed by Lutyens. It was driving me nuts not knowing lol. A quick search can get you more info on the house, now that we know where it is.

Are you the Brian Farnham who was the director of Rosemary and Thyme?
If so, may I take the opportunity of saying a big "Thank You" for such an enjoyable series. Felicity and Pam were a joy, and I wish we could have had more. I keep hoping, even now, that we might see a one off special new episode...
